FIND – Mapping & incident management application

This workshop is offered on June 10, 2021, This class will be held on 6/10/2021 from 8am to 5pm, immediately before the opening of the main MRA conference.

Supported with funding from the Science and Technology Directorate of the United States Department of Homeland Security, FIND is the only turn-key search and rescue (SAR) tactical decision aid that combines mapping, incident management, and search theory allowing faster finds and automatic documentation all while either connected or disconnected from the Internet. A single solution to all your SAR incident needs.
This hands-on class will introduce FIND, how to use it to generate maps, manage a search, and create incident documentation.

INSTRUCTOR – Billy Chrimes

Billy Chrimes is a technical specialist with dbS and is responsible for training, FIND demonstrations, data collection, and UAV experiments. In addition, he is also employed by the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and serves as a Search and Rescue Coordinator/Search and Rescue Training Specialist. Billy has managed dozens of Search incidents including disaster responses to significant tornado incidents as well as a recent deployment as a Strike Team Leader for a canine recovery team to Mexico Beach, FL following Hurricane Michael. Additionally, Billy has successfully managed a number of successful multi-day searches including a 5 day search for an 8 year old Autistic Child that saw 1200-1500 volunteer and professional searchers each day. Billy also is active with the Southwest Virginia Incident Management Team as a Situation Unit Leader.
